cyprus walking

Introduction

Along with the Troodos Mountains, The Akamas Peninsular and Polis area with its surrounding hilltop villages is the best walking region in Cyprus.

Whilst becoming more popular with walkers the area is still little known and therefore retains its unspoilt charm well away from the main tourist areas. It offers the walker the chance to explore a countryside of hills, gorges, valleys and coastline together with a diverse flora and fauna. Enjoying the peaceful villages which dot the area.

For example at 635m above sea level you will find the peaceful little village of Drouseia with its narrow winding streets and traditional stone houses.

Polis itself set back 1km from the sea and with it’s picturesque central square also offers its own walking opportunities amongst orange, lemon and olive groves.

The walking itinerary we offer gives you the chance to explore all the diversity and beauty the area has to offer. All the pictures you will see on our website have either been taken on, or in the vicinity of, our walking itinerary. Your expert and knowledgeable English guides who themselves live in the area will take you off the beaten track and you will enjoy a walks itinerary not found in any guide book nor offered by any other organisation.

Climate

It is generally considered best “walking weather” between February and early June and then September into early November. In the spring months it is particularly pretty with an abundance of wild flowers and the smell of almond blossom.

These times of year also have the advantage of being less popular than the summer and should therefore offer the chance to walk in peaceful surroundings with the only human encounters likely to be local goat herders or the occasional fellow walker who has also discovered this tranquil haven.

Accommodation

All our villas are ideally placed as a base to explore the region. Each villa has its own private swimming pool and allows you to stay in the very countryside in which you will be walking.
